GoK-TiE Mentoring Program
Karnataka is home to the world’s fastest-growing startup ecosystem. India’s first comprehensive entrepreneurship platform for startups, Elevate100 aimed to trigger this startup ecosystem in Karnataka to the next level. A brainchild of the State government, Elevate100 was a combined initiative of the Startup Cell, Karnataka Biotechnology and Information Technology Services (KBITS) Government of Karnataka in association with TiE Bangalore, Deshpande Foundation and PwC.
During the course of a two-day grand finale on 29–30 August 2017, 270+ startups, shortlisted from multi-city pitches, pitched to a grand jury of industry experts. On 30 August 2017, the Government of Karnataka declared the 111 winners chosen through the rigorous hunt across Karnataka. History was scripted in the startup world as for the first time, Rs. 35 crore of government funds were awarded to the winning startups. The Government also signed MoUs with Google, PwC, Yes Bank, Kotak Bank, Amazon Activate, Indian Law Practices, Digital Ocean and Zoho to cater to the needs of the winning startups.
The efforts of the program did not stop at elevating the 111 winning startups. The GoK-TiE Mentoring Program was launched to mentor startups that were runners up at the Elevate100 program, in order to help them take their ventures to the next level through mentoring from TiE Charter Members and industry experts, idea validation, advisory and legal support.
